Raju Ananthaswamy is a leading and highly accomplished music director, composer & singer of Sugam Sangeet in Karnataka for over 15 years. He is one of the very few musicians in his field who can play Harmonium while singing. His skill as a distinctive Harmonium player is highly respected and revered by one and all. He is a great performer and it’s a treat to listen to him live. His rendition of Rathnana Padagalu is incomparable. Raju’s compositions and singing style is very unique as well as greatly influenced by his father, late Mysore Ananthaswamy. His songs, Krishna Yenabaarade, Madhava, Beldingal raathrili, Tunge Dadadalli, Heege ondu Raathri are mile stones among his compositions and authenticate his unique style of composing. He is very well known for his song Yaava monana murali kareyitu from America America and Hottare yedbittu from movie Rishi.

Raju is a ‘High’ grade artiste in All India Radio and regularly appears on Radio City, Doordarshan, Udaya TV, Zee Kannada and ETV programs. He is a busy artiste and performs with his troupe all year round. He sets aside his weekends to teach sugama sangeetha to several students. Though Raju has set to tune more than 200 poems, he enjoys singing his father’s compositions, which he also aspires to preserve and promote, during his performances. He is able to pass these on to the younger generation as well as his many students, through his Sugama Sangeetha school in Mysore and Bangalore.
