Fight #1 – Marcus Davis vs Chris Lytle

Rd 1 – Lytle struck first with a sweeping right hook that rocked Davis. After sprawling against the fence Marcus recovered and began exchanging. Lytle’s strikes appeared to do more damage and he became the stalker. As the round progressed, David settled down and began to time Lytle with effective counter shots. In the final minute, Lytle managed to open a small cut beneath Davis’ left eye.

Rd 2 – Once again Lytle opened strong with strikes. He trapped Marcus against the fence and unloaded a series of hooks, most of which landed on Davis’ gloves. Marcus escaped by running away at a full sprint. He slowed Lytle down with counters in the middle of the round but not as much as in round one. In the final minute Davis landed a nice jumping knee to Lytle’s face.

Rd 3 – Big round for Davis. He nailed Lytle with tons of counter punches and mixed in some knees and kicks to the body. Early in the round he landed a right punch to Lytle’s left eye that nearly closed it by the end of the round.

Winner: Marcus Davis by split decision 29-28, 29-28, 28-29

Fight #2 – Alan Belcher vs Denis Kang

Rd 1 – Kang landed multiple punches to Belcher’s face within the first 30 seconds but he still wanted to fight on the ground. He took Belcher down and moved around at will. Belcher kicked him off from guard, and the fight returned to standup. Kang immediately resumed the face pounding and eventually took Belcher down a second time. Again he hopped from guard to half to side mount, and attempted an Anaconda choke and a Kimura. Belcher defended well but he still lost the round decisively.

Rd 2 – The pace slowed in this round. Kang continued to dominate the fight but he did not land as many punches nor was he as active on the ground. There was a forced standup halfway through the round and with 40 seconds left the Irish crowd began to boo. Seconds later, Kang shot in, and Belcher caught him with a very tight Guillotine. Belcher dropped to his back, wrapped his legs around Kang’s midsection, and forced his opponent to tap.

Winner: Alan Belcher by tapout (Guillotine) at 4:36 of rd 2

Fight #3 – Jeremy Horn vs Rousimar Palhares

Rd 1 – The fight quickly hit the ground with Palhares in Horn’s guard. He soon took Horn’s back, got one hook in and began delivering shots to the side of the head. Horn twisted to his back and Palhares continued the beating from side mount. Several more transitions took place, and each time Palhares got the superior position and continued his striking attack. No matter where Horn moved, Palhares was on him punching away.

Rd 2 – The round started where the previous one left off: with Palhares all over Horn delivering blows from the dominant position. At around the halfway mark, Horn temporarily turned the fight in his favor. He managed to get the full mount on Palhares and nearly sunk an arm triangle. In the ensuing standup Horn landed some good strikes. The round ended with Palhares in Horn’s guard doing some ground and pound.

Rd 3 – Palhares tossed Horn with a suflex and went to work from the top position. The rest of the round saw very little action. Palhares remained in Horn’s guard landing light blows.

Winner: Rousimar Palhares by unanimous decision (30-27 on all three cards.)

Fight #4 – Tom Egan vs John Hathaway

John Hathaway gave hometown boy Tom Egan a whooping. He controlled the entire fight and never gave Egan a moment to breathe. The end came when Hathaway began landing elbows to the side of Egan’s head from the full mount.

Winner: John Hathaway by TKO (strikes) at 4:36 of rd 1

Fight #5 – Mark Coleman vs Mauricio “Shogun” Rua

Rd 1 – Coleman was shot after a couple of minutes. He spent all of his energy during the first takedown and subsequent ground and pound. Shogun hung tough and eventually turned the tables on Coleman. Toward the end of the round he landed some nasty leg kicks, punches to the face and some nice knees. He came close to finishing but tempered his pace instead of going balls out.

Rd 2 – After exchanging strikes, Coleman scored another takedown. Rua escaped, and began landing some punishing blows to Coleman’s face. Mark was too tired to keep his hands up so he just had to take the blows. Mark managed another takedown after Rua tried plumb. Rua escaped again, resumed the beating, and Mark scored another takedown. Rua clamped on a shoulder lock in the final minute but was unable to force Coleman to tap.

Rd 3 – Both guys were exhausted. Mark was able to shoot but that’s about it. Both guys pretty much stopped and collapsed to the ground after Mark grabbed Rua’s midsection. Mark was able to muster some energy and began throwing some elbows to Rua’s face. Rua moved and began pulling on Coleman’s leg hoping to set up a knee bar. Mark fought it off and took Rua’s back. He continued some slow motion ground and pound until Rua escaped. Rua threw a knee to Coleman’s chest and the ref mistakenly halted the action to warn Rua. In the final standup Rua landed some big punches including a vicious uppercut that dropped Coleman. Referee Kevin Balhall made a second mistake by stopping the fight because Mark immediately scrambled for a takedown after the knockdown. Despite the two errors from referee Kevin Balhall, his actions did not change the winner of the fight since Rua had won the first two rounds.

Winner: Mauricio “Shogun” Rua by TKO (strikes) at 4:36 of rd 3

Fight #6 – Dan Henderson vs Rich Franklin

Rd 1 – Ace blocked a hard right and then avoided a big kick from Dan but lost his footing. Dan began unloading some nasty ground and pound from the side ala Tank Abbott-Hugo Duarte. Ace finally escaped and began throwing kicks while Henderson concentrated on punches. An accidental headbutt caused a cut on Ace’s forehead.

Rd 2 – The round was fought standing until Henderson scored a takedown at the halfway point. Ace did a good job neutralizing him. Dan managed to land a few decent strikes from the top position toward the end of the round.

Rd 3 – Ace’s punches and kicks did some nice damage before Dan took him down. Again Ace played defense well and stifled Dan’s ground and pound. Ace escaped and continued to dominate the standup. With 30 seconds left Dan accidentally poked Ace in the right eye. Fortunately he was able to finish the fight.

Winner: Dan Henderson by split decision 29-28, 30-27, 28-28
