Beautiful 20-year-old Brazilian model Mariana Bridi da Costa died after she succumbed to an infection that doctors were unable to stop. Mariana Bridi's physicians had amupated her hands and feets but were still unable to save her. The infection was caused by bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which has resistance to some antibiotics. WebMD has more about Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections which they say are "exceedingly rare" in young, healthy people in the U.S. Mariana's illness was originally incorrectly diagnosed as kidney stones in December.
