Candidates file for April 7 elections

Numerous candidates have filed for various city, school district and fire protection district posts up for election April 7.

The filing period ended at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20.

Unless noted otherwise, all city posts carry two-year terms; board of education posts carry three-year terms; and fire protection district posts carry six-year terms.

Chesterfield Journal coverage candidates

In Chesterfield, Mayor John Nations is running unopposed for another four-year term.

In Ward 1, Councilman Gene Schenberg will be opposed by Gary Stein and Matt Segal. In Ward 2, Councilman Lee Erickson will face off against challenger Derek Grier.

In Ward 3, Daniel McGuire and Randy Logan will vie for the seat now held by Councilman Dan Hurt, a 20-year veteran, who is not seeking re-election.

In Clarkson Valley, four seats on the Board of Aldermen are up for election. Only incumbents have filed, including Jim Meyer, Ward 1; Honora Schiller, Ward 2; Scott Schultz, Ward 3; and, for a one-year post, Barbara Hethcote in Ward 3.

In Wildwood, Ed Marshall and Bill Eggers will vie for the seat now held by Councilman Tony Salvatore, Ward 2, who is not seeking re-election.

Otherwise, only incumbents have filed for council seats, including Patricia Thibeault, Ward 1; Jim Baugus, Ward 3; Rick Wise, Ward 4; Mark Schaefer, Ward 5; Ron James, Ward 6; Robert Porter, Ward 7; and Michele Bauer, Ward 8.

In the Parkway School District, four candidates have filed for two seats up for election on the Board of Education, including incumbent Beth G. Feldman of Chesterfield; incumbent Helen Casteel of West County near Maryland Heights; Louis I. Quint of Ballwin; and Angela Schaefer of Ballwin. The two candidates getting the most votes will be elected.

In the Rockwood School District, incumbent Peggy Devoy of Ballwin and newcomer Matthew Fitzpatrick of Eureka are the only candidates for two seats up for election on the Board of Education.

Due to the uncontested filings, state law says the district won't need to hold an election.

Rockwood board member Bill Adams is not seeking another term.

In the Metro West Fire Protection District, incumbent board member Ralph Starck is running unopposed for another term.

In the Monarch Fire Protection District, Marlyn Flauter and Robin L. Harris, both of Chesterfield, are vying for the board seat now held by Dr. David Terschluse, who is not seeking re-election.

In Ballwin, only Alderman Tim Pogue has filed for the post of mayor, now held by Walt Young, who is not seeking re-election.

In Ward 1, Alderman Jimmy Terbrock is running unopposed for another term. In Ward 2, Frank Schmer and Todd A. Koebel are running for the board seat now held by Ken Buermann, who is not seeking re-election.

In Ward 3, Jim Leahy is running unopposed for the board seat now held by Jim Robinson.

In Ward 4, Alderman Ray Lembke will be challenged by Ken Mellow.

In Ellisville, Mayor Matt Pirrello is running unopposed for another three-year term.

In District 1, Councilman Clark Compton also is running unopposed. In District 2, Linda Reel, Ryan Higgins and Jason Moore are vying for the council seat now held by Rich Lacaille, who can't seek re-election due to term limits.

In District 3, Roze Acup is running unopposed for the council seat now held by Charles Pavlack, who also can't seek another term due to term limits.

In Manchester, Alderwoman Janet Steinbrenner, Ward 1, will be challenged by Bob Tullock, a former alderman.

Aldermen Mike Clement, Ward 2, and Don Ryan, Ward 3, are running unopposed.

In Twin Oaks, only incumbents have filed for the Board of Trustees posts held by Karen Dresner, Paul Brockmann and Dennis Whitmore.

In Valley Park, Alderman John Brust, Ward 1, is running unopposed. In Ward 2, Alderman Don Carroll will be challenged by Charles Koetting, Thomas Bolte, Joanna Hicks and Laurie Henderson.

In Ward 3, Alderman Edgar E. Walker will be challenged by Nathan Grellner and Jeffery J. Whitteaker, a former mayor and former alderman.

And in Ward 4, Alderman Steve Drake will be challenged by Jeff Lloyd.
